How the mattress we use influences our health
Sleep and health

The choice of mattress is fundamental to sleep well, and sleeping well is fundamental for our health.
It sounds like a play on words, but it is the truth! Sleep influences our health, that is why owning a really good mattress will be extremely beneficial.

What are the problems tied to sleeping in a bad mattress

Restless Sleep

If during sleep your body does not find a comfortable position, you will keep tossing and turning, and consequntly wake up multiple times.
Restless sleep leads to lack of concentration, an increase in stress levels and ultimetly a weakening of the immune system.

Muscular Cramps

If the mattress is not in good condition, your back will adopt wrong postures, leading to muscular cramps, especially in the lower back region.

Asthma and allergies

An old mattress is often not the most hygienic place to rest, mites can nest in there and lead to infections, allergies, asthma or conjunctivitis.
Besides changing your mattress regularly before it becomes old and dangerous for your health, it is important to maintain it clean.
To do that, remember to let your mattress breathe once a week, if possible removing the cover as well, and at least twice a year (for example when you switch from the winter side to the summer side and viceversa) you should put it in a vertical position and let it breathe on the other side.

How often should you change your mattress?

Answering this question is not easy, because the life span of a mattress largely depends on its quality. We can say, though, that the life expectancy of a good mattress that was treated well is about ten years.
